Text: Nonlinear Dynamics and Chaos 2nd Ed Strogartz

I am experimenting this semester with flipping the classroom. There will be links to lectures placed on Blackboard. You are expected to have watched the lectures before coming to class. There will also be short quizzes over most of the lectures on Blackboard. In class, we will devote our time to doing homework, projects, exams, and addressing any questions you've got.

Grades: Your grade will be determined using a 10 point scale. We will have the online quizzes worth 20% , homework 20%, 4 exams 10% each, and a comprehensive final worth 20%.

Attendance Policy

The attendance policy in the student handbook will be followed.

Academic Honesty

Any incidents will be handled as described in the student handbook.

  1. You should attend all class meetings.
  2. All homework is due at the beginning of class on the due date given, unless I specify otherwise. I am not accepting late homework.
  3. Likewise, there will be no make-up exams except in very rare cases.
  4. We will use Matlab. More later on this subject.
  5. All aspects of this syllabus are subject to change as I see fit and as conditions warrant.
